Contrast

IMPROVE YOUR COMMUNICATION WITH CONTRAST!

Marketing materials’ purpose is to tell people about your product or service, so messaging must be clear and easy to understand. We often see people damage their messaging by not having enough contrast. The good news is, this is usually a simple fix. We have put together three examples of website contrast errors and solutions that will hopefully help keep your marketing messaging clear!

IF YOUR CLIENT CAN’T SEE IT, THEY WON’T TRY IT

We often see contrast issues on websites. It is popular to overlay text over images, but you have to make sure that you have enough contrast between your image and text color. The second layout is much easier to read, and when you only have 2 – 3 seconds to grab a user’s attention before they click away, you have to make it count.

CLIENTS NEED TO SEE YOUR CALL TO ACTION

Website buttons are another place that we often see a lack of contrast. Buttons are your call-to-actions, and you want them to stand out. The first two buttons on the image below are too difficult to read. The last button is more clear!

CONTRAST IS MORE THAN JUST COLOR

When we think of contrast, we often think of color, but it also helps to create varying text sizes to help differentiate between points. For example, it is evident in the second example that ‘quality images’ is a header, allowing the reader not to get lost and confused.

Remember, always double-check your marketing materials to ensure that there is enough contrast to be readable!
