Say Goodbye to this Google Business Profile Feature
What is the Google Business Profile Website?
Google Business Websites (a previously free website builder, linked in with with your Google Business Profile) are going to be shut down. You can find Google’s page about it here.
They will be active until this March, then the URL will direct to your Google Business Profile until June 10th. After the 10th, the URL will direct to an error page.
Here’s the Shutdown Timeline:
January 2024
Google Announces plans to shut down service
March 1st
Websites will be taken offline. Users using the URL will instead be automatically directed to your businesses’ Google Business Profile page.
June 1st
The previously active URL will stop redirecting to your page, now becoming a 404 page. This happes as Google stops all services for the URL you claimed from them, or custom bought for your website.
What Should You do to Prepare?
Once March comes your website URL will automatically redirect, this gives businesses just a few months bit to create another site. When your new site is ready, place the URL in your Google Business Profile’s website section.
Google themself recommended website builders like Wix, Squarespace, and Google Sites.
