Client Spotlight: Showing some Ohio-Spirit with MOWLOA!
Introducing the Mid-Ohio Women’s Lacrosse Officials Association
One of our recent projects was for MOWLOA, the Mid-Ohio Women’s Lacrosse Officials Association. Part of this project was entirely revamping MOWLOA’s brand, including a new logo, color palette, font pairings, and website to put it all together!
A New Logo with some Retro Flair
MOWLOA was very clear about the design they wanted, so we were primarily focused on making sure it worked perfectly with their ideal branding. They provided us with a logo they liked from another organization for inspiration, and we came up with a few examples to choose from that would make it their own. If you’re a lacrosse fan, you may recognize we used vintage lacrosse sticks in the logo. This was a great suggestion from the client to give the logo a bit more personality!
It took a couple rounds of proofs, but we’re ecstatic about the end result!
Let’s Talk Brand Standards
One aspect of the brand redesign that we were given mostly free riegn over was their font choice and color palette. The font was easy enough to choose- an elegant serif.
From there, regarding the palette we knew that we would use black and white to represent the officials, and many of their images might contain green from the lacrosse field.
We decided our third color needed to stand out, but work in tandem for an eye catching design! Eventually a reddish-pink came to mind to work with the black, green, and whites.
This seemed to be a perfect fit since we are in central Ohio (Buckeyes/Scarlet), and pink has been representing women for the last 70ish years!
Better Building for Ease of Use.
The website was created in WordPress because it is an open-source platform with endless capabilities and is easy to update. MOWLOA has a wealth of information on membership, rule changes, and news, so it was a must to implement a search bar right into the website. Working with our client, we were able to update all of their content with the new brand standards, making it quick and easy to find!
